John's profile

Born: 1965, Gisborne New Zealand.

Education: Gisborne Boys High School 1978, NZ.
Advanced Certificate in Horticulture and Landscape Design
1992, Nelson Polytechnic, NZ.

Qualification: Diploma in Visual Arts, majoring in Furniture Design
1997, Nelson Polytechnic, NZ.

A working member of the Nelson Suter Art Society, exhibiting regularly with the Suter Art Gallery, Nelsons regional Art Gallery.

Though John graduated from Nelson Polytechnic as a furniture designer, this hasn't restrained his creative energy into one area. It has expanded his work further, taking him into painting and sculptural metal work.

Moving between the two dimensional aspect of painting to the three dimensional aspect of furniture, is a fairly easy transition for John, keeping him constantly challenged.

John's recent sculptures use steel: his coral fish forms and pacific lizards shine with a contemporary finish.
