Welcome to John Wolter's art studio website!

Metal art work is my passion so you'll always find me in the studio creating new metal art works. Check out the complete Portfolio section where you are welcome to browse through some of my work. Most sculptures seen in my Portfolio are sold, but similar works can be produced under a commission basis- so don’t hesitate contacting me if there’s something you like. I am also open to creating something new & unique if you have an idea for a sculpture.

About Wolter Art Studio

I was born in Gisborne on the New Zealand East Coast 1965. After extensive overseas travel, included living and working in Australia and Sweden - I settled with my family in sunny Motueka at the top of the South Island. My home and gallery is on the road to Kaiteriteri Beach and the Abel Tasman National Park.

I have been a full time artist for over a decade and during that time been working and experimenting with a range of medium. Through this journey metal art works have become my passion and I am now creating mainly one-off metal sculptures.

I enjoy the physical aspect of using hand tools like hammers, grinders and blow torches. I just love witnessing the colors produced when heating metals and bringing to life expressive curved forms from hard, cold copper and steel.

I don’t rest for long. Sleep sometimes doesn’t come easy, when too many ideas get me fired up back into the workshop to starting something new.

Wolter Art Studio & Gallery is located approx. 50 min. from Nelson City on the way to New Zealand's beautiful Kaiteriteri Beach, world renowned for its golden sands and gentle waters. If holiday making in New Zealand`s Nelson or Tasman regions, take time to pop in on your way to Kaiteriteri or the Abel Tasman National Park and have a look around. Visitors and art collectors are welcome to visit Wood Pigeon Art Studio in person and see the art of John Wolter and where it is created.

You'll enjoy the eclectic mix of artworks that greets you.
